Content Sync: Issue with Recursive Sync

Hello!
Is there a limit to how many or how deep the recursive functionality goes?
I'm able to sync /content/my-site/en_us, but cannot sync /content/my-site/, getting an error message.

What is the error? Are you connecting directly via host:port or through a balancer?
There is no limit per se, but syncing deep content trees could potentially result in a Timeout exception when the remote instance takes time to build the list of pages.
And how many pages does /content/my-site contain?

I excluded the balancer out of the equation and increased org.apache.sling.servlets.get.DefaultGetServlet to 3000. This seems to have resolved the issue. We have a large site, with over 100K pages.
