Upgrade 6.12.x to 8.18.0 performance degradation

Issue

After I upgraded the mongoose 6.x in my project to 8.x, under the same benchmark test of jmeter, the throughput decreased. What may be the reason for this.

The main reason for my upgrade is to enjoy the bson performance improvement brought by mongo driver 6.x

Mongoose 8 introduces stricter defaults

Query strictness: By default, Mongoose 8 enables stricter query filtering (strictQuery: true). This may force extra validation overhead per request.
Validation changes: Schema validation got stricter, meaning more CPU cycles before sending queries to MongoDB.

Try explicitly disabling strict query checks to compare:
mongoose.set('strictQuery', false);
