[Quick question] Where do the videos get downloaded as they stream?

Where do the videos get downloaded as they stream? Can this be configure to tmpfs (memory) if it's not already? I know typical file browsers like Firefox default to disk but it would be preferable to use save to memory for performance and reduce unnecessary writes if there's enough unused memory available.
