BUG: Not installing

[anonfaded]

I tried installing with pip3 command, didn't work and then i followed the steps of manually downloading the model and files and still same error. I'm on macOS and it just doesn't work.

Thanks for reporting the problem.

Can you try setting the environment variable OBJC_DISABLE_INITIALIZE_FORK_SAFETY to YES before running File Brain ?

For a one-time test, you should run this before launching the app:

export OBJC_DISABLE_INITIALIZE_FORK_SAFETY=YES

If this works, please save this setting permanently. You can do that by adding the previous line to the ~/.zshrc file if Zsh is your default shell (which should be the case since macOS Catalina)

yeah it worked but another issue. as i already downloaded the model, i again here am asked to download it. what should i do?

You can continue downloading it by clicking on that button.

Sometimes the wizard does not accurately detect the downloaded model, and it wants to restart the download. If this is the case, it will just overwrite the files and redownload them from scratch.

I still don't know why this happens on some computers, but it is not a big problem, since it happens only one time.

If file-brain comes with a pre packaged binary file like other software that we simply download and install, it will make it easier. For now the process is too much and not something that will keep the user engaged with the trial and errors.

I have pushed a testing version; you can upgrade to it by:

pip install -U --pre file-brain

(notice the --pre flag)
You can test it to see if it resolves this problem.

I didn't test the app on Mac OS yet, that's why Mac OS users might experience errors more than Linux or Windows users.

I will work more on packaging, but it is hard because the three systems have different ways of packaging, and File Brain uses external dependencies (Apache Tika and Typesense), which themselves need special considerations to work on the different systems.
