chromium-x11 scarthgap branch build running with "GPU raster" OFF

[spbh25]

When i check "Frame rendering Stats" in chromium when i run a simple WebGL application to do some simple rendering, in chromium, it shows "GPU raster" OFF with a very low FPS (~25 fps). I see very high cpu utilization and very low (~5%) gpu utilization. Below is the log message i get when i run chromium.

When i run graphics benchmark applications like glmark2-es2 & check gpu utilization using intel-gpu-top, it shows good utilization of gpu under "Render/3D".

When i run chromium, i see the below lines in the logs.

I have the following questions:

• Now i am trying with chromium-x11. Should i try with chromium-wayland to get the hardware acceleration enabled?
• How can i debug further to see whats actually crashing the GPU process?
• Is it because the GPU i have is blocklisted? The GPU properties are as below:

Stuck on the hardware acceleration issue and not able to move forward.. Appreciate if i get some inputs to resolve the issue..

The problem is that embedded linux work is pure joy and laughter until it comes to GPU drivers. It requires different magic incantations for each board and SoC.

Two Three generic thoughts:

• Play a bit with mesa packageconfigs. Toggle vulkan, gallium, opengl (etc...) features, and see if any of them brings any change
• Play with relevant Distro features: vulkan, opengl, wayland, x11... (just as a test, try to enable even if you don't use one of them)
• Your "about-gpu" logs show "The GPU process crashed!" three times. That sounds like a starting point, I would try to debug from there, most likely starting with adding a bunch of printouts in the code, and see why it is complaining. (This may or may not be a rabbithole. First I would go with attempts that don't require this...)
