Summary
I would like to contribute to Open Science Labs through Community & Outreach by improving new contributor onboarding, documentation clarity, and community engagement.
Motivation
Open Science Labs attracts contributors from diverse technical and educational backgrounds. Clear onboarding resources and active community support can significantly reduce entry barriers and help contributors make meaningful contributions faster.
Proposed Contributions
I propose to work on the following community-focused improvements:
- Improve or create beginner-friendly onboarding documentation
- Create a "First Contribution Guide" for new contributors
- Add FAQs covering common setup and contribution issues
- Support newcomers by guiding them to beginner-friendly issues
- Help organize or support community study groups or learning sessions
- Improve clarity of existing contribution guidelines
Expected Impact
- Faster onboarding for first-time contributors
- Increased contributor retention and engagement
- Reduced mentor support load for repetitive questions
- Stronger and more welcoming open-source community
