First timer excel plug in issue (very basic)

I am a student using COMET for the first time, I don't know how to make this work. I want to use the excel plug in, and I downloaded the github files but I don't see a way to do it, is it supposed to happen automatically, do I need a .exe file? I could use this help pretty quickly so it would be much appreciated.
