ESC key is always intercepted, which stops and cancels recording

Problem / Motivation

When using TypeWhisper for long recordings, ESC key gets intercepted whenever used, which leads to (lots of) unintended stops and cancellation of recordings. I don't find any way to change the hotkey in the settings, or remove the functionnality.

Proposed Solution

• add a setting to disable or set the stop/cancel hotkey
• add the possibility to click the indicator to stop/cancel recording
• add a raycast command to stop/cancel recording

Thanks for the report. Would the dedicated recorder feature work for your use case?

Dictation is mainly meant for quick system-wide capture and insertion, while the recorder is the flow intended for longer recordings.

If the recorder would not work for you, what is the main gap?

Hum, OK, i kind of like seeing the recording indicator, even during long sessions. VoiceInk has a clever behavior : first ESC press shows an alert, second ESC press actually stops and cancels the recording.
