Figure out why binaries are so large

When you come back to this repo after a day or so, you have to pull down many megabytes.  It shouldn't be this way; the nightly test results don't take much and are in separate files, and the compiled wasm files themselves shouldn't change unless their toolchain or source changes.  We should look into this!
