Ships
GENERAL:
Usage is not well balanced.
It needs at least half a year to build even longboat in the beginning. So there is no fast access to the ocean.
It needs no more than half a year to build Galleon, when you have a shipyard.
It needs dozens of Galleons to transport army, it's capacity is extremely small, which leads to heavy micromanagement.
Clippers have no no niche application
PRINCIPLES:
I believe, that the best system should be based on next principles:
To not change anything except numbers.
IDEAS:
make easy and fast possibility to build Longboat.
make hard and long building of Galleon, but very profitable.
balance Clipper
WHAT'S NOW:
Current problems according to principles and ideas:
* it takes too many time to build longboat from the scratch.
* it is very quickly to build Galleon, and it's capacity is extremely small
* Clippers are useless in most of the cases
Longboats
Problem statement:
* it takes too many time to build longboat from the scratch.
Ways to resolve:
price: decreased to 5 - 10 wood.
capacity: 10*(price)
sailors: 2-4
Pros:
* with this change it will be possible to build longboat in 3 turns (train master - cut wood - build longboat) without extreme expences (10 peasants). Which will give quick access to the ocean in case you need it.
* realistic.
* it gives niche for Clippers
Cons:
* I don't see any.
Galleon
Problem statement:
* it's small and it can be built by one per month.
Ways to resolve:
price: increased to 200 - 400 wood.
capacity: 25*(price) (5000 - 10000)
sailors: 50-100
Pros:
* with this change it will be possible avoid micromanagement with many galleons.
* realistic, real ships were built for a years.
* it gives niche for Clippers
Cons:
* I don't see any.
Clipper
Problem statement:
* it's useless, if you need to transport something bigger than scouts, you need a Galleon. Otherwise you need a Longboat.
* Galleons are just 50% more expensive.
Ways to resolve:
price: 2/5 of Galleon's price.
capacity should be 15*(price)
sailors: 1/2 of Galleon's sailors amount.
Pros:
* with this change it will be reasonable to build Clipper if you don't need to transport big army, but you need anything
bigger than Longboat.
Cons:
* I don't see any.
