Hi there!
I had a very similar idea and dug a little to search for existing implementations, leading me to find yours.
What is the development process of this app, how much of the code is written by hand?

The approach/architecture seems solid, I like it :)
There's definitely some ideas I have in mind, like integration with SigNoz (similar to your idea with DataDog), even more generic URIs using embedded Regex and maybe also the ability to highlight ranges using editor integration.

What do you think of specialized plugins per editor that enables additional features, like automatically creating the links from within the app?

I'd definitely love to see an app like this come to fruition and unify code linking. Sharing context less blobs of code with my coworkers is what made me look for a better alternative ^^

Sorry for the delay. I'm interested in ideas for sure!

The app is AI engineered, I would say. I read the code, and the approach and architecture are dictated by me, rather than AI. It is partially an experiment in how high quality I can make something while being at least partially hands-off.

Tell me more about what you'd be looking for with signoz? I have a chrome plugin that uses the format, and covers a lot of cases. By default, it recognizes path-y things and wires them up with this protocol.

Gotcha, seems reasonable to me.

I didn't try the extension cause I'm on Firefox - makes a lot of sense to handle it this way. Definitely a lot more generic.
A Firefox extension would be nice, maybe I could try to whip up one with Claude (I assume that's what you're using)? Never tried it before.
Not my area of expertise though, so I'm not sure how good a result would be with me trying to use Claude for sth like that.

Regarding my other ideas - I think highlighting ranges in supported editors could be nice, not sure if that's feasible/the editors even support highlights like that. Think of URLs with text fragments:

They support highlighting ranges without Regex. Not sure if Sorcery would need Regex, since it should be fairly accurate with a few words already. Might be useful, though I haven't put much thought into that design or its use cases yet.

How does one generate the sorcery URLs? The WebUI can do it, probably the desktop app, too. What about in editor? That'd require plugins, I assume. Would def be nice to have context menu integration (or vim shortcut or whatever). There's quite a few use cases for in editor plug ins, even if it's a lot more work. For one, they could register their respective editor directly to handle sorcery links without requiring the sorcery desktop app. Range highlighting/text fragments would probably go there, too, as well as the URL generation. Too tired to come up with more stuff, maybe I'll have more ideas tomorrow ^^
