Dev environement

I would like to help advance the development of the project by adding features or bug fixes, but I don't know how to test what I develop without risking breaking my PC configuration. I would appreciate your advice on the development environment to use (VM/Docker/other?). Thank you in advance!

You can clone the repo, make changes and with some git knowledge you can split between dev and daily use (or just clone im a different place and use qs -p .. I just kill the current shell and start the testing one, but you can use a KVM VM also. There is some qemu options and virt-manager tools to expose your host filesystem.
