How do we do versioning?

Obviously we should upgrade our package versions regularly. How do we do this best? Semantic commits?

I checked the commit message history and i see most of the commit messages (except the very early ones) already using Conventional Commits message concept and we are also using Github Actions so (my feeling is) integrating semantic-release would be a natural next step for handling versioning and releses automatically.

It's also related to the release strategy, let's sync with the Carbon team first and try to reuse as much as possible of their process.
