Blitz cache not busted after updating variant in Shopify

Description

I currently have the issue that if I update a product in Shopify and the webhook is triggered, the Frontend is not showing e.g. the new price. I have to clear the cache to see the updated price.

Steps to reproduce

1. Update product price in Shopify
2. Webhook is being triggered
3. New price is not visible in the Frontend
4. Clear the cache
5. New price is now visible

Thank you for your message.

We have just tested this and everything seems to be working as expected. The webhook comes in and triggers a sync of the data, that is performed in the queue and during that the product element is saved (which should trigger the cache invalidation).

As I mentioned this appears to be what is happening from testing.

Could you potentially share any further insight into your project? Maybe how you are doing the caching? Is the queue getting run at the right time (to process the data)?

We are using Blitz together with Servd Static Cache (Servd is our hosting provider).

We were able to identify the issue. Blitz has a setting called
refreshCacheWhenElementSavedUnchanged.

It seems that when the product price is changed in Shopify, the product itself gets updated, but Blitz still treats it as unchanged. This might be because the price field is not a traditional Craft field.

After setting refreshCacheWhenElementSavedUnchanged to true, the cache refresh started working as expected. However, this setting is recommended to be false, as enabling it can cause more cache refresh jobs to be triggered than necessary.

Thank you for providing more information on this, it has been really useful.

I think there is maybe something for us to consider in this scenario. It is correct that if information in a variant is changed then that both does and doesn't mean that the product has changed. It is also related to how the synced data from Shopify is stored.

I see the potential issue that could be cause by changing that config setting.

In the mean time, may I offer up a solution that might work to prevent you having to go all out on changing the setting.

The following code should set dirty attributes when a Shopify product is saved. Although this will do it for all product saves it will at least solve the cache issue and mean that other elements are not having their cache cleared unnecessarily.
