I have update my docker to include the lastest keyserver changes in node but get an error from keyserver.ubuntu.com

I have made the change to my docker file :

ARG NODE_VERSION='22.17.1'

ARG FACTORY_VERSION='5.11.4'

but my build still fails:
gpg: error reading key: No public key
| gpg --batch --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys C0D6248439F1D5604AAFFB4021D900FFDB233756
| gpg: keyserver receive failed: Connection timed out

Thank you for logging a separate issue!

• Does the build always fail, or is this a temporary problem, so that if you retry then it works?
• How are you connected to Internet? Or are you running the build in a CI provider's system? If it is CI, which one are you using GitHub Actions / CircleCI / etc. ?
• If you have a permanent problem, have you tried to build using FACTORY_VERSION='5.11.2' instead?

cypress/factory:5.11.5 has been released to fix the issue of a failing connection to keyserver.ubuntu.com causing a build to fail.

With the new Cypress factory Docker image, it is only necessary for the key needed to verify the selected Node.js package to be available. If other keys cannot be imported, an additional error message is shown in the logs, however that no longer prevents the build process from continuing.

Please check if you can build your Docker image(s) using cypress/factory:5.11.5 . You can view a list of published Cypress factory Docker images on https://hub.docker.com/r/cypress/factory/tags

To download the image, you can use:

docker pull cypress/factory:5.11.5

Wow, thank you @MikeMcC399 for such a fast resolution to this. Yes, I can confirm from my end that the change in 5.11.5 works as intended and my build continued successfully after experiencing the timeout in key retrieval from keyserver.ubuntu.com when attempting to install node 22.17.1.

According to https://status.canonical.com/ the keyserver.ubuntu.com is operational, so I don't know the reason for the timeout. This would be a network issue, perhaps due to firewall settings or similar?

If you run the following commands in a cypress/factory image bash terminal:

docker run -it --rm cypress/factory

and the first two commands permanently fail in your environment:

gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 5BE8A3F6C8A5C01D106C0AD820B1A390B168D356
gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 5BE8A3F6C8A5C01D106C0AD820B1A390B168D356

and this command is successful:

gpg --keyserver hkps://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 5BE8A3F6C8A5C01D106C0AD820B1A390B168D356

this could be because you have a firewall setting that is blocking TCP port 11371 traffic commonly used for the hkp protocol. The hkps protocol commonly uses port 443, which is the same as the https protocol and so in any network with Internet connection this is likely to be enabled by default.
