The current .NET MAUI package version '10.0.0-preview.2.25165.1' requires the .NET MAUI workload version to be at least '10.0.0'. The current .NET MAUI workload version is '9.0.14'.

How to update the workload to 10 in Visual Studio? The usual upgrade approach doesn't seem to work with pre-releases.

I tried the command line approach typing dotnet workload install maui --sdk-version 10.0.0-preview.2.25165.1 and got a message that --sdk-version option is no longer supported so I tried dotnet workload install maui 10.0.0-preview.2.25165.1 that said that Workload ID is not recognized.

For me this all arose after running Updates in the NuGet package manager. Then trying to perform a build.

Okay, I found the answer. I guess we need to be careful just blindly assuming running updates is okay!

1. Click the menu "Tools", hover over "NuGet Package Manager" and click "Manage NuGet Packages for Solution..."
2. Select Microsoft.Maui.Controls and check the box indicating latest pre-release is install and uninstall it.
3. Once it has finished, reinstall the latest 9.??? stable version, and rebuild your application.
