Welcome to the Internet Archive's IAUX wiki!

About

IAUX is a component platform for developing front-end components & utilities principally for use on Archive.org. It allows for fast prototyping in a front-end-centric environment, as we experiment and imagine different experiences for our users.

Thanks for your patience, as we are just getting started. We are glad that you are a part of our journey.

How we communicate

Slack - For active contributors, we have a by-invitation Slack channel.

GitHub Issues - We are currently prioritizing what to do next, and this will be reflected on the Github Project Board. We definitely need your help getting this repo in tip-top shape. Please create GitHub Issues for problems that you find, and once we get our processes more defined, we will be able to reply to them more quickly.

Office Hours - Every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 am, San Francisco time, the Internet Archive UX Team will be available on the Slack channel for discourse, troubleshooting, collaborating, prioritizing, and hanging out.

Friday Lunch - The Internet Archive hosts a by-invitation lunch each Friday at our headquarters at 300 Funston, San Francisco.

Please contact (teamux at archive dot org) if you are interested in joining our Slack channel and/or want to join us for Friday lunch.

Contributing

Looking for an easy way to get started and contribute to Archive.org? Help us document the existing UI components on Archive.org in the Design Pattern Library.

As tasks start to take shape and are ready to be worked on, we will add them to the Project Board. Feel free to begin any task in the "To Do" column that you feel you have the skills for.

Contribution expectations

The things you make won't always end up on the site. Sometimes we will have tasks to specifically create prototypes and variants. Some tasks will focus on maintaining a healthy, easy to use codebase. With that said, we appreciate your help and will do our best to give you the credit that you deserve.

Code of Conduct

We take cultivating a positive and encouraging environment seriously around here. As part of our community, we would like to see kindness when communicating with one another. The golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated, is the one we follow.

If there is a problem in any way, ping one of us, so that we may address it.
