trying to update the 380beta to the rc fails on android 9

To Reproduce
install rc over beta

Expected behavior

Android 9 on Moto g6 (XT1925-5)

Version of Jamulus
380beta to 380rc, not sure if beta1 or beta2

Additional context

Meanwhile, the exact problem/error message and/or even adb logcat output may be helpful (when posting the latter, ensure to sanitize all private information first).

(First Post, so firstly, big tip-of-the-hat to all the Jamulus developers, especially Volker for starting it!)

Me Too for Android installation fails (error message is simply "App not installed."), but as per @wanderfalk OP, simple workaround is to uninstall old version of Jamulus first.

Attempting to install 3.8.0 on top of 3.7.0 fails, as does 3.7.0 on top of 3.8.0...

Attempting to install 3.8.0 on top of 3.8.0 works ok, as does 3.7.0 on top of 3.7.0...

Tried turning Play Protect off, clearing package installer cache & data etc. Tried APK from both GitHub and SourceForge. Tried on multiple machines & Android versions: Samsung A70 phone (Android 11); Lenovo Tab 3 Plus (YT-X703F) (Android 6.1); Hudl 2 (Android 5.1).

Sorry, programming skills 30+ years old, so wouldn't dream of attempting a fix, but happy to run tests on my various machines if someone gives direction...

@NickHyHo I assume the same happens if you install the latest beta for Jamulus 3.8.2?
Can you maybe google a bit if this issue is known for other software?
Maybe it's because we're providing a debug build (I'm not sure if this is still the case now).

@ann0see I've just tried installing 3.8.1 over 3.8.0 and it still gives "App not installed" message. If you can point me to the APK for 3.8.2 I'll try that for you too (sorry, not a regular GitHub user so not sure how to track down a non-standard install package).

I don’t fully understand the Android build process yet, but the FDroid release #2373 might solve this issue (or point us to the problem).

When I installed the APK recently on my phone, I already had an old one installed, and I found I needed to uninstall the old one manually (settings -> applications) before installing the new one.

Not sure of the reason for it yet.

Has the packaging script changed in some way that could cause it not to "find" the old install?

I doubt it. Maybe it’s because the APK might be a debug build.
