Raytracer.c:29 ERROR: Couldn't find a suitable platform for OpenCL

Are you using AMD's latest gpu drivers? Try updating and if it still doesn't work try this sudo apt install mesa-opencl-icd

i tried running the apt command and it failed saying i have held broken packages

I have encountered this error before but I can't remember how you fix it

this will likely be fixed due to my updated graphics drivers, i'm just unable to build right now

i found an old copy, it gets further than it used to but it segfaults now

trying to use this program to debug my opencl on my new system. the segfault might be due to the cast in CL_GL_CONTEXT_KHR, (cl_context_properties)glXGetCurrentContext(),, this function is undefined. i'm still trying to sort this out myself but thought it could potentially be useful to others

interestingly, such compiler error and segfault only occur on nixos and presumably ubuntu. it works fine on debian

also rather interestingly, commenting out the lines that caused such an issue (the one about the x context and display) fixed an invalid property error. i'm not sure why this worked, most likely due to my (soon to be rectified) lack of experience with opencl

EDIT: actually, maybe not. if you do this (not sure if you don't), it causes creating a texture buffer to return -34 (CL_INVALID_CONTEXT). i might maintain a temporary debugging fork rather than recreating these changes on each device i test on

EDIT 2: what's incredibly strange about this is that none of the other calls fail, only the one that creates the texture (the first one, not terrain.png)

EDIT 3: this stackoverflow question says it might not actually be that edit's fault?

something that's strange is that clinfo says my driver does support that extension. i'll debug this later at some point
