Missing `ContainerInfo` plugin

Hi, I saw in the changelog that building this plugin was deferred in May 2022. Would it be possible to make it available ?

I was thinking that this came in from https://github.com/vmware/open-vm-tools/ and totally confused, wondering how issue #1 was being used again. It took a while to realize this came into my "work" project used in the past to re-base open-vm-tools releases for Fedora.

At the moment this project repo is only being used to prototype Markdown document changes to be used on https://github.com/vmware/open-vm-tools/. There is no ChangeLog here, so am not quite certain to what you are referring.

The containerInfo plugin has been released in the open-vm-tools source bundle beginning with 12.0.0 in Mar. 2022.
Linux vendors may have delayed or deferred the containerInfo plugin for any of:

• does not align with their planned container strategy
• the additional needed OSS packages may not be available in their base set(s) of packages. Implemention time may vary.
• A compilation problem introduced by one of the new OSS packages may have prevented the containerInfo plugin from being compiled - OSS package version specific.

What flavor of Linux are you interested in?

Can you point me to the specific changelog that mentions deferral of containerInfo in May of 2022?

Oh, it seems I messed up, sorry. I found this changelog at the end of the Fedora package spec https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/open-vm-tools/blob/rawhide/f/open-vm-tools.spec.

Now I am on the same wave lengths. Since this work repo was used for a Fedora re-base, I speculated this might be related to Fedora. I did not make the connection between the ChangeLog file in the OVT source bundles and the %changelog entries in the Fedora open-vm-tools.spec file.

IIRC, here was an issue for Fedora 36 and some usage of some C++ templates from one of the protobuf development packages. The builds worked for fed34 and fed35.

I have an open action to rebase 12.2.0 for Fedora. I will revisit the containerInfo plugin along with the rebase.
