App freezes in ios after loading? #44

Hey there, first of all, this is an incredible project and I'm excited to work with it more to learn React Native. I'm working on building a social network for political organizing and this is by far the most thorough social networking app template I've found. Bravo!
My question is: I can get Proximity running in my Android emulator (yarn && yarn android), but not in my ios emulator (yarn && yarn cocoapods && yarn ios). It loads in ios the Proximity purple screen, but then nothing happens.
In other projects I've used expo to deploy to ios, android, and web. I'd like to have functionality for web as well so this is attractive to me. Is it worth for me to try to set up expo for this project, or not necessary?
