Description
Describe the bug
The scheduled autoremove command emails errors to the internal root account. Either these are false positives, i.e. there was no (significant) error and thus no email ought to have been sent, or else there is a problem with the scheduled command, i.e. it that command is doing something wrong. Either way, perhaps there ought to be a GUI option to disable the mail. (I presume that I have not somehow enabled the mailing, as against merely enabling the automation.)
Here is one of the emails (via Mutt).
Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2025 17:25:56 +0100 (BST)
From: Anacron root@X230
To: root@X230
Subject: Anacron job 'cron.weekly' on X230run-parts: /etc/cron.weekly/mintupdate-autoremove exited with return code 100
To Reproduce
Perhaps merely the following.
- Run mintupdate.
- Edit -> Preferences -> Automation.
- Enable, 'Remove obsolete kernels and dependencies' - except, hold on, I have that disabled already, even though the newest of the aforementioned emails is from only a few weeks ago and I do not think that I changed the setting within that period.
Expected behavior
I expect there to be no email, at least not if there is no significant error.
