gpt-4o does not allow websearch in playground

I deployed gpt-4o via azure foundry at the target uri of: https://llm-cd.openai.azure.com/openai/deployments/gpt-4o/chat/completions?api-version=2025-01-01-preview

when i use this in vscode foundry or ai toolkit extension and attempt to choose the 'enable web search' option, i get the error:
This model doesn't support web search. The models that do are Claude Opus 4.1, Claude 4 Sonnet (20250514), Claude 4 Opus (20250514), Claude 3.7 Sonnet (20250219), Claude 3.5 Haiku (20241022), Claude 3.5 Sonnet (20241022), GPT-5, GPT-5 mini, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, Gemini 2.5 Flash Preview 05-20, Gemini 2.0 Flash, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental 02-05, Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental. If the support was added recently, please report an issue in https://aka.ms/ai-toolkit/report-issue, we will quickly follow it up.

By OpenAI document, you need to use responses API for web search and GitHub Models currently does not support the responses API endpoint.
