Feature Request: Export Chat logs to a file

The feature I am looking for is a way to export chat sessions into a plain file similar to a log file.

My primary goal is to keep a log of conversations that are complete and leverage them for generating additional resources.

• User should be able to designate a file location
  • File location should be configurable
• User should be able to configure the file name
  • Filename should align to session state name set by issue Feature Request: Rename functionality for chat sessions in GitHub Copilot X #459
  • Filename should be allowed to prompt for a name if configured
  • Filename should be allowed to assume a configured convention
• Format of the file should be configurable
  • Plain Text - default
  • JSON
  • XML
• User should be able to decide if a closing conversation should be saved
  • Closing a session should prompt for save
  • Closing a session should be configured to save or not
     

Issue: #1052/#459 is similar to this. However, what I am asking for is not for session state or renaming the in-memory session state.

@itanex to the extent its helpful... made a VSCode extension for GitHub Copilot that allows your to export chat history, share it and it automatically builds copilot instructions for you, check it out and let us know what you think: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=SpecStory.specstory-vscode.

Also, it will automatically autosave all of your chats to a .specstory directory in your project's root so you never have to manually save yourself. The format at the moment is markdown (plain text)
