The next release will have support for VS2026 now that #3236 has been merged. Keeping this open as I'm unable to test this directly and would like someone to confirm.

I am planning on releasing the next stable version today (2025-11-10).

But if you are consuming node-gyp via npm it will take longer and will be up to when the npm team pulls in the latest version and releases their next version.

You can override this with npm's --node-gyp flag: https://docs.npmjs.com/cli/v11/using-npm/config#node-gyp

I have updated to node-gyp v12.0.0

However, unfortunately, I don't see any detection code related to VS18 (Visual Studio 2026) in node_modules\node-gyp\lib\find-visualstudio.js -> checks[] find-visualstudio.js

But the upper-level node_modules\node-gyp\gyp\pylib\gyp\MSVSVersion.py -> _CreateVersion() -> versions{} already contains complete Visual Studio 2026 code. MSVSVersion.py

I believe this is a major oversight, preventing many developers like myself who only have VS2026 installed from updating, creating, and publishing their applications in a timely manner.
