Description
What version of Codex is running?
codex-cli 0.55.0
What subscription do you have?
Pro
Which model were you using?
codex-5-high
What platform is your computer?
24.6.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
Occasionally when opening codex you do not get the help commands but rather you get a screen like this.
on around half the time this results in nothing happening and the other half of the time it eventually loads the "'to get started describe a task"
I suspect this might be related to mcp Timeouts. I managed to replicate this by launching it like 20 times and one of those times I actually saw a timeout message on all the MCP servers
Sorry that I can't be more helpful with this issue, trying to debug it
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Open codex on MacOS
Open Codex with some MCP servers loaded
What is the expected behavior?
If MCP server timeouts are causing this the CLI should indicate that "Loading MCPs"
if the MCPs are taking too long the user should be able to "Skip" loading MCPs
