m-link and lbt

I have a few multiplex m-link recievers and my multiplex transmitter broke (dont really want to buy a new multiplex transmitter). That's why I thought about buying the radiomaster ts16x ii with 4in1. I am from the EU thats why i would buy it with lbt because of legal reasons. But i was told that the m-link protocol is not included in the lbt version. Why is that so?

I am really new to all this opensource (edgetx) transmitters, multiprotocol stuff. I know I could just switch from lbt to fcc by flashing it but I am not sure if that is smart because of legal reasons. I only use surface models.

I believe it's because certain protocols don't comply fully with LBT (listen before talk), at least at the TX power of the Multi-modules.

However, I may not be perfectly accurate I think I saw it mentioned here once

So if I understand that right. When I buy a new multiplex transmitter (e.g.: COCKPIT SX 9 M-LINK), it has a different tx power compared to the multi-modules which makes it able to work the protocol in lbt?

It just sounded odd to me intially, that the m-link protocol from multiplex (which is a company originally from germany so EU) does not work with lbt. But as I stated I am completely new to all this stuff and have no clue about a lot of things in this topic.

That sounds right. I believe the Multi-modules are usually 100mW, which I think is higher than most OEM radios

HOWEVER, I really don't know, I just thought I remembered seeing it somewhere, maybe not 🤷‍♂️

I also asked ChatGPT out of curiosity and it said that manufacturers like Multiplex can certify their protocols and hardware independently, while multi-module can't really do that
But as usual with AI, i really don't know

Ok, thanks again for your answer. I have another question you might have an answer to. If I use FCC in an environment where everybody else uses lbt. Will there be interferences although everybody elses uses some frsky or hott protocols only i use mlink?

For explanation I use mostly models in 1:14 like trucks, cars and construction machines (excavators, cranes). I would really like to use this situation with a broken multiplex mlink transmitter to switch to an opentx system where is still can use my m-link recievers. Then i could switch step by step to opentx/elrs over the next few years,

As long as mlink is frequency hopping of any kind it should be fine. It might be fine even without that but I don't have any experience with non-hopping protocols.

Me and my dad use our MT12s on AFDHS2a close together and the telemetry link is weaker but radio (control) link is perfectly normal.
