What is hyprland (and what it isnt - ie a desktop environment)

Hyprland is suited to those who wish significant customisation and are prepared to put in the work. Hyprland itself is not a desktop environment, so very limited scope without other projects.

Install options

• supported OS

  • archlinux (hyprland option in archlinux install wizard)
  • debian (outdated packages, requires manual build)

Desktop environments

Installing a minimal Arch Linux and then using the HyDE CLI tool seems to be the simplest way to have a fairly complete desktop environment based on hyprland.

This installs all the hypr* packages, waybar, rofi menu and several other related tools.
