Accessing the result of a function when writing out text

textInput.value without parentheses refers to the function itself, not its result.

JavaScript automatically converts functions to strings when printed, which is why the whole function body appeared on the canvas.

What you really wanted would be the function's return value, so you may want to call it with () like this:
text(textInput.value(), 25, windowHeight/4.5);
I believe the function is in the p5.js source file where the function is defined.
This is the line at which the code is present in : p5.js/src/dom/dom.js

I would be willing to add a short console warn message to alert the users

Those are the best places to get help with specific sketches. However, please do report bugs even if you're not sure!

Thanks for the @NisargJasani0602 for the explanation!Thanks for offering to add a console message; however p5.js 1.x is currently focused on bugfixes/stability rather than new additions (even minor ones). But please feel free to reopen this issue if needed, for example if you'd like to suggest a more specific warning p5.js 2.x for this situation (right now, although 1.x does not produce a warning, in 2.x this results in a general type mismatch warning)

Thanks @ksen0 , I worked on this and added a friendly error hint in validateParameters for cases where a Function is passed instead of a String/Number.
I have tested it locally
