Description

There is a configuration item in the settings called "Use Thaw Bar." If this option is turned off, all items cannot be displayed on the MacBook's built-in screen (blocked by the notch).

However, my external displays has enough space to display all items on the menu bar, so I want to control them separately. That is, allow user to only set enable "Use Thaw Bar" on the MacBook's built-in screen and disable on external displays.

I’d like to second this feature request. This is the only reason I use a menu bar management tool.

I'll take a look. Not sure if this is easily doable or if I need to implement profiles/proper multi-monitor support for this. But certainly something I also want to see.

Agreed. This would be perfect. On my external display, I have plenty of space and want to see more icons. On the laptop display I am crunched for space.

If you could implement profiles per display, that would give the most flexibility. For example, if there is an existing profile for an active display, those settings override the behavior for that screen. It may get complicated if there are multiple active displays.

I posted a very similar request in the Discussions-section and there is already working code for that: jordanbaird/Ice#612

+1 - some other apps do this by allowing the user to set a width (usually 1920 pt), and on screens >= 1920 pt, the app is disabled. This seems easier in that you don't have to handle monitor identifiers, and it just works on any new monitor I connect (eg. in coworking).

E.g.

1. one for "large monitors" (>= 1920pt (configurable)): show app 1, show app 2, show app 3, hide app 4
2. one for small monitors (< 1920pt (configurable)): show app 1, hide app 2, hide app 3, hide app 4

So user can choose what items two hide in each scenario. Fully disabling may be sometimes too much.

Fully disabling them would be a good stopgap to implement first, since there is an existing PR for Ice that implements this feature and might be easily merged into Thaw.
