Packaging scripts fail on MacOS

This mostly stems form readarray not being available on MacOS bash. Any suggestions for workarounds to this?

I also ran into this problem. I just installed the latest version of bash using homebrew (which has readarray), then I set the environment for the scripts to be the newer version of bash: #!/usr/bin/env /opt/homebrew/bin/bash
