I ended up using Amazon SES to send the email campaigns manually. Will look into alternative options such as firebase. One reddit user said "You setup and configure the Firebase extension named Email Trigger.

You you also need a SMTP account such as SendGrid.

You give the send grid details to the extension

You then use Firebase to write a document to a specific collection where they get auto sent"
