setState hook not working inside useContractEvent listener function

Hi everyone,

I am working on a dapp that basically calls to a contract function and then listens for the emitted event by using: useContractEvent hook.

In the listener function I am calling a useState hook.

The problem is that a lot of times it does not update the state but the console log runs perfectly

useContractEvent({
    address: '0x0000000',
    abi: ListingV2,
    eventName: 'ItemAdded',
    listener: (id: BigNumber, title: string, author: string): void => {
      console.log("ItemAdded: ", id, title, author)

      setItems(oldItems => [...oldItems, { id: id.toString(), title, score: 0 }])
    }
  })

it there something to have into account to run state changes inside the listener function?
