Implement Native App–to–Web Browser Handoff (and vice versa) #2636

@nb

Description

@nb

We still don’t have a native Mac app, but it turned out that handoff, introduced in iOS 8 & Yosemite can work with web pages, too.

Here are the Apple developer docs.

Use cases:

  • I started writing a post on the train and want to finish it on the laptop when I get home
  • I read two pages of posts in the reader while waiting for coffee, and at lunch, I’d like to continue from the same place on my mac in the evening
  • My post got fireballed, while I was in a cab and started approving and replying to comments right there. When I got home I wanted to continue from the same place.

Many of those use-cases work in reverse way, too, however handoff from a website to an app would work only for whitelisted domains and will require extra work.
