IEEE 802.15.4 support on NXP RW612

Hello,

I've noticed recents commits related to IEEE 802.15.4 on the NXP RW612 in the zephyr and hal_nxp repositories. However, according to the doc, IEEE 802.15.4 is still not officialy supported by this board/MCU in Zephyr 4.1.0.

Is anyone aware of the current status? Is the documentation just not up-to-date, or is this is still a work in progress?

IEEE 802.15.4 is supported for RW612 in Zephyr 4.1.0 release. We will add IEEE 802.15.4 in "Supported features" section of https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/boards/nxp/frdm_rw612/doc/index.html page.

I was finally able to compile RW612 OpenThread samples. At first, I was looking for some nxp/rw/ieee802154 driver that I could enable in the device tree, but after some time I found a NXP OpenThread RCP host driver enabled through CONFIG_HDLC_RCP_IF=y. Maybe it could be a good idea to either add this to the FRDM_RW612 config, or document this config on the board support page.

Hi @Ritesh-nxp, I got quite surprised by the ieee802.15.4 support in RW612. I somehow expected to be able to use Zephyr + the CHIP project (by using NXP's/Zephyr port there). However, with this driver, I think that is not possible, right?

Yesterday I managed to get some CHIP examples compile by mixing in the OpenThread platform with this HDLC driver, but not fully working yet.

Am I missing something? Is there some easier way to use RW612+Zephyr+Matter over Thread?
Btw do you have any plans to add the ieee802.15.4 driver support?
