This is an intermediate level tutorial on procedural noise generation with Python. While a niche topic for a technique rarely implemented in GIS, it has wide ranging applications for generating synthetic data such as terrain, clouds, water, roughness, and other surfaces. Topics covered in the tutorial include gradient noise, ridge and billow noise, fractal Brownian motion, and multifractal noise.
