I don't love this as a method because it adds so many dependencies to this repo that we obviously don't use. We could just install the necessary deps manually, or (potentially, in theory) actually split the gear optimizer repo into workspaces and properly export a calculation-only embeddable module (which could be an npm package I guess? if anyone wanted that?) to make this cleaner.
