As 2018 comes to an end, now is the time to look towards the future. By looking back the year of 2018, real-time collaborative development has been a hot topic. Within the time of one year, VS Live Share extension for VS Code has reached near 4 million installs. The popular extensions such as GitLens (which has near 10 million installs), Live Server and CodeStream have already supported Live Share.

Collaborative Development

In IoT world, real-time collaborative development is really important. When developing for an IoT project, not every developer would have a real device on his hand. Imagine that there is a 10 persons startup team to develop an IoT project, but they only have 3 devices. With IoT Utitily, we want to make it easy to share 3 devices for all 10 members with great Co-debugging and Co-debugging experience.

Remote Assistance

When customers has problem on his IoT device, the OEMs usually find it really hard to troubleshoot the issues. With IoT Utitily, we want to let the OEMs easily access and debug the customers device remotely, and find the root cause quickly.

Interactive Education

When giving a IoT lecture to a remote classroom, it is hard to let every student own a real device. IoT Utility wants to help teacher share as more device information as possible with students, also adds read-only mode to prevent unnecessary or accidental edits to the IoT device during a lecture, while being able to elevate individual student to read/write to make changes for the IoT device.
