This path-specifying addition is needed for linux. I tested on mac, but please double-check if still works ( if the whole commiting sequence works fine)

Looks good!
I would put the API changes in a separate part from the theme changes, since we changed something in 95% of the themes and there are just a small number of API changes (that are even more important)

This change should make writing and reading the upgrade guide much simpler
