I'm closing this, not because it is wrong, but because the maintainers do periodic updates of the common submodule which will pick up any changes. |

Though if in the future you need to update the submodule like as part of a bug fix, you should wait to submit the PR until the changes you need have landed in libguestfs-common repo. |
