Would it be out of scope to also suggest some crude wood-plate similar to the metal plate vest? Similar to the 2x4 arm / leg guards |
I've considered it, but with how our armor system works with thick materials it'd be way too protective |

No love for small/large mutants? (for pipe and crude plastic ones, anyways. Don't know what the plate holder would be instead of jeans) |
Skipped my mind, but also I'm not 100% sure if it'd ever be used? By the time you'd be able to mutate you can probably get better armor |
Could make them very fragile/very susceptible to mending flaws? it makes sense a piece of wood would protect a lot but immediately break after a few blows. |
We have multiple types of low-tier armor that allow XS/XL versions(scrap/leather/tire), and dying in Sky Island/getting phased in a portal storm can strip your gear |
Summary
Content "Adds in a pipe, makeshift metal plate, and plastic armor vest for early game armor"
Purpose of change
We don't have much armors that are very low skill, even though I think it's reasonable that there should be some.
Describe the solution
Pipe vest: Sections of pipe sawn down and tied together, worn as a vest. Very rigid, very heavy, but also protective.
Makeshift metal plate vest: Two pairs of jeans with metal plates inside them sewn together. Really shitty but also feasible.
Crude plastic armor vest: A chopped up garbage bin worn as a vest.

Additional context
Please feel free to suggest a different name to the makeshift metal plate vest it feels pretty bad.
